That's a fair comment, but they still have their own interests at heart, and will sell you anything as long as they make money, even if what they sell you doesn't suit your needs. I find it hard to trust a salesman/womanProbably but then most good business men know that happy customers mean a solid business.
They are using the forum to promote their bikes, and that's wrong. Some retailers are only in it for a quick buck but electric bike retailers want to build a relationship as many people go on to buy again, I think on here they are quite trustworthy and not just because fibs will be quickly exposed and kept for all to see.
Sometimes the adverts in threads get a little much but overall they make a very positive contribution. I think the forum would be lacking without them. They are using the forum to promote their bikes, and that's wrong.
I disagree, we would be better off without them, commercial interests should not be allowed. I know certain members have close connections with them, but they should not intrude on us.Sometimes the adverts in threads get a little much but overall they make a very positive contribution. Just for the record I have no gripe with any retailer, I just think it compromises the purity of the forum.I agree with Mussels. I do find it gets tedious when people have a gripe just for the sake of it and others jump in with daft commments.
Similar to recent issues on here
If I have a gripe with a dealer I talk to them not to cyber space, I recon if you think you have have a case and you have exhausted all avenues then try on here if it helps or other methods, trading standards, citizens advice, courts whatever.
At the end of the day I have dealt with some right anal retentives in my job
The more important they think they are the more anal they become in my experince

It all becomes clear "funding coming from those very dealers" you said it all mate!! I rest my case!!Without the dealers there I doubt if there would be a forum as we know it.
It is in my opinion, very profesionally run and funding coming from those very dealers helps make that possible.
OK, there is a bit of hype from time to time, but I am sure most members can see beyond that.

If you think something underhand is going on then what is it?It all becomes clear "funding coming from those very dealers" you said it all mate!! I rest my case!!

Yes Tony, but there are a lot of newbies on here, who are easily convinced that a bike sold by our benefactors will suit them best. This is not always the case, as I have found out. This is a great forum and you are the main man, it should not be biased by commercialism.I think the benefits of having "the trade" in here easily outweigh the disadvantages, as many members know from the ways they've gained.
This is a mature forum of mostly very mature people whose life experience makes them easily able to see beyond the hype and obvious selling. They don't need "Nanny State" type protection by the forum or anyone else.
.
Isn't that obvious, they are using our forum to promote their bikesIf you think something underhand is going on then what is it?
I can't agree Griz, I think it presumptuous to say that. The age profile of members indicates far too much experience to be so easily fooled, being newbies to e-biking doesn't mean they are dumb consumers. Most in here seem to ask numerous questions before buying and invariably get advised by members to at least try before buying. It's the ones who don't come into the forum first who seem to buy the duds and then come in later to find out the unpleasant truth about their poor buy.there are a lot of newbies on here, who are easily convinced that a bike sold by our benefactors will suit them best.
