Just a thumbs up to anyone thinking of cycling in the Lake District.

There are quite a few places now to charge your bike for free(donation in most places would be acceptable).

I have contacted a few and they seem to just require a small donation once i explained a bike costs pennies to charge. The Tourist Information Centres all appear to offer this service.

Here is some places you can charge your bike:

If anyone else knows of other places in the area could you please post them in here for future reference.

Regards,

Lakeland.

This also lists Lakeland along with others parts of the country.

I wonder if anyone who has used them could explain the system, security of the batteries and chargers whilst on charge and insurance implications etc.
Most public places around here, even though unlisted will just let you plug in FOC along with mobiles and laptops etc.

Is Cyclecharge still a going concern?

I've never received my membership card/keyring from early last year & the map doesn't seem to get updated any more.

I am still awaiting a reply from this company regarding general access. They are an electric bike hire company based at muncaster castle near ravenglass/eskdale area and have charging points in the eskdale/wasdale area.

I would expect the national trust buildings and camp sites also provide this service.

Due illness Cycle Charge is kind of on hold at the moment, but I sure that the existing Charge Points would be happy to provide service if asked.
