Electrifying a GT Avalanche

Hi, newbie here! Currently waiting on the delivery of a 36v 250w rear hub motor from topbikekit. Paired it to 48v battery with a built in controller for a bit of extra boost! After upgrading my normal bike to a trek hybrid, I decided to electrify my old GT Avalanche 26” mountain bike into a commuter for the 5 mile run to the train station or 7 miles to the other office. Getting itchy fingers waiting for delivery now though!

Thanks all, great advice all round. Ideal would be as suggested, re-spoking the 26" kit into a 700c rim, but I've never built a wheel, and haven't the tools or the confidence to attempt it let alone end up with anything reasonably true.
