Just fitted the slime tube protectors and slime tubes to the Evans. Also fitted a pair of barends and a crampbuster to get away from the pedelec that doesn`t suit my style of riding.

Since that image was taken I have lifted the barends a touch more and repositioned the crampbuster. Now i get a slightly more upright and comfortable riding position with the throttle at my finger tips which is a much better way (with the Alien) to get the amount of assistance I like. It`s just so much nicer to cruise around.

The crampbuster on this bike is the slightly larger diameter version that goes on the throttle much easier. I might cut away the width of the lever a touch to give easier and quicker access to the front brake. All in all a much more user friendly set up that allows cruising or head down bum up flying. I`m not sure whether it`s the lightness of the bike or the power of the Alien motor that makes this bike so rapid but I note that pedal assist is just about coming to and end at around 18 mph where throttle can take you up another 2 or 3 mph for a bit more push up hills.

For those with the alien it`s worth consideration to prevent numbness and cramp and just make that powerful motor more usable.

No! the Marathons are on the Powertrek but these inserts are in the evans/alien conversion. I decided to go for the protectors rather than the Marathons on the evans because the tyres are almost brand new and are a really good compromise between rolling resistance and grip. I put the protectors in my wifes bike for the same reason and no punctures so far:eek:

I think I`m getting there now, this really is a thorn infested are, I was talking to a guy up the road today who bought a new wheel barrow and punctured as he took it out of the packaging:(

still! to be honest it`s little to suffer for living in a crime free area with lovely rides right on the doorstep.
