Extra Energy report on electric bikes

Just posting this in case it helps those still looking for a bike - however, the report is from 2009 - so it won't help everyone.

Its on the Extraenergy.org website. Click on the link and at the bottom of the page on the link, you select 'Test results for 2009' then you have to enter your email address and its sends the link to your email inbox.

Perhaps there is a more recent report? - I haven't time to keep looking.

I just saw a link to the report on the front page of this very website - sorry for any repetition. I had read the report before, as someone kindly linked me to it - but I thought it might give some insight to new people looking at potential purchases - despite the report not being fully up to date.

Back to the report - have a look at page 36 - the electric bike has a clip on umbrella/sun shade!! Surely it would take off in the wind?!!

There is a more recent report Penny, but the Extra Energy tests are rather poor, not really being testing enough and biased towards European makes. They are also very subjective, in the 2009 report there was this as reported by a member:

In 2009 Extra Energy reviewed a Koga and a Sparta. To summarize the Koga was given top marks on performance (power) and the Sparta low marks using the same metric. Both machines had identical motors and batteries and software.

Not a reliable source therefore.
