I have shipped 34 packs of Li+ battery without charge on consignment for warranty replacement to 50cycles that should be arriving this week or next into their wharehouse. I am making this offer here in response to my failure to pay attention to this forum, which means not paying attention to my customers.
To all those who have written to this forum before today 29th Dec 2007, I offer a new pack of Phylion Li+ battery (that is regardless of the person has or has not a pack given as warranty replacement or how long he has it before before it became un-satisfactory. ) Please claim the pack of battery from 50cycles, but please register with the serial no. of the battery pack that is 'un-satisfatcory".
I also have to declare here this is an offer from eZee, therefore I could not offer the delivery to all those concerned without 50cycles support, so you maybe required to pay the postage or delivery charges or otherwise collect it in person.
If the numbers of claim exceed this 34 units we will arrange another consignement.
It will also be greatly appreciated that all those who is taking up this offer, please drop me an e-mail to register for our administrative purpose.
I understand this forum should not be used for commercial purpose, but I believe what I am doing here is also doing my part to support this forum.

Happy new year to all.

That's a great offer of customer support and further proof that Ezee are much more than just another Chinese bike manufacturer. It should make a happy new year for a number of customers.

Happy new year Mr Ching.

Gesture now convinces me

This gesture now convinces me that I will be definitely be ordering an Ezee Liv from 50 Cycles in January via the "Cycle to Work Scheme" because of what seems to be superb after-sales customer service, which after requesting information or speaking to various suppliers seems to be lacking in this marketplace.

i second the above post...well nearly..

and i second the above post, well not exactly as im not going to go out and buy a liz...any day my quando will be delivered and i will feel a lot more peace of mind about getting some assistance should i have a problem, beacuse i think £250 is a lot to pay for a battery as when i bought my powabyke i laughingly told friends.."you will never guess how much a battery for this costs...about £110 ..honest !!".... of course i was green to e-bike stuff..lol...

A great example of good service. Thank you very much Mr Ching. Although I have a dud Li-ion, I won't take this offer up and potentially deprive another since I've a working NiMh for each bike anyway, but thanks again for this thoughtfulness.

A Happy New Year to you and Ken.

You are lucky in Britain. Never heard of such service in my country (or in any other one indeed). Happy new year to Mr. Ching - and everybody.

This is fantastic news as my husband and myself had almost decided not to use the bikes until we could get a reliable battery -NiMH still out of stock.

Will the replacement Li battery use the same charger, I am assuming it will do.

I shall be ringing 50 cycles on Monday, as I doubt they will be there now. I have emailed Ezee with my serial numbers. Can't wait to get back on the road again - lots of excess Christmas pounds to shed.................

Final question - is it that these new Li batteries are made differently and are more reliable? I have noted with our two batteries, one has faired better than the other, both being a big problem tho. Hopefully it will stop cut out up hills, we used to be able to get up the hills when we first had the bikes, but recently even small gradients cause cut outs. The motors must be very good as they, fortunately, always come back to life with the turn of the switch.

Yes, they use the same charger Jeanette, and they have recently been improved with changes to the cut-out point. Hopefully you'll find them much better.

If not different, I would suggest they have been very carefully prepared as they are warranty replacements. One thing is clear, now they have email contact with you they will want to know if there is a further problem, and, try to find the solution, and you can't say much fairer than that ;)

I hope they work well for you

This is a remarkably generous offer from Mr Ching supported by 50 Cycles.

I have been forthcoming (and accurate) in my positive comments in the past and just once have had cause to criticise. This gesture gives me absolute confidence both in ezee and (reinforced once more) in 50 cycles because it convinces me that Mr Ching is entirely serious about his product, his customers and the future of e-cycling.

I have had motorcycles throughout my adult life and have developed a complete brand loyalty to Triumph. I can feel a similar situation developing with ezee and could not be more impressed.

Well done, and Happy New Year.

Hi Jeanette,
I'm not sure if they will replace a faulty NiMh with a Li Ion battery, you need to check on this.

Good luck,

John

Jeanette does have Li-ion on the Sprints John, but was converting to NiMh when available. Fortunately this won't be necessary now of course.

How about Ezee extending the battery warranty period to a minimum of 1 year, surely this would increase consumer confidence and lead to more sales?

even my toaster from tesco's for £5 has a years.lol....and in 6 months time if my quando battery is no good to fork out another £250 is ganna make expensive, after all if we say electric bikes save us money yet spend £500 a year on battery's alone that dont help....yes i know how much cars cost to run  ..

QUESTION.....does the warranty of the battery start from the day you order or day you take hold of,if i have to wait 10-14 days for my bike to come that is one 12th of the warranty....or there abouts

We have asked Ezee about this but I think they have to negotiate with their manufacturer, but I agree it is the obvious solution.

Yes, it is for the battery manufacturer to decide, but as I've reminded before, it is a consumable, and they often have shorter warranties. In part this is because they are more at the mercy of the way the consumer treats them.

There have been many shorter warranties, one that older members in particular will remember, though extending into the present day, is the three month warranty on electronic valves and cathode ray tubes for televisions. The latter could cost hundreds too at times.

Long battery warranties are possible, as I mentioned before, Toyota guarantee the NiMH battery in my Prius for 8 years or 100,000 miles. Prius battery failures are extremely rare, so it's certainly possible to have a very long service indeed.

The only one I know with any length for Li-ion Manganese is two years on the Panasonic unit's battery. Of course it's much easier on NiMh and some other types where there's long experience with them, especially when not used in normal full discharge modes.

Hopefully we may see gradually lengthening periods on Li-ion Manganese as experience grows and designs improve, though I suspect Lithium Iron Phosphate might arrive sooner and solve the short life problem anyway.
