Anyone know where I can get hold of Ezee type 3 pin throttle plug connectors? Will try Maplins when I get a chance, but I don't see any in their online catalogue.

John,

I think you'll find its the same as used by Crystalyte, which is a JST type SM connector. Farnell stock some of them (ie the 3 pin but not the 5 pin), but you'll need a special crimp tool or to engage in fiddly assembly.

Thanks for the info Nick,

I have ordered some from Farnell. The throttle I bought came with JST Crimp sockets, so I need to change gender.

A bit drastic, John! :)

If I were you, unless you plan to remove the throttle from time to time I really would just cut the connectors off and join the cables. Would work just as well and would be easier than fitting a connector - but obviously it's your preference!

Hi John,

Did you get white or black ones? Last time I bought some Farnell only had white housings.

For small quantities you can fold them up with pliers and solder them. If you want to crimp, you need a "half barrel" type of crimp tool. I've got a general purpose one that works on these. Its made by Molex and I got it from Mouser in the US.

Hi Nick,

I ordered white ones which was all they had available. Colour doesn't matter as they will be covered by heatshrink.
As for crimping, I have lots of different types of pliers used in Dental Technology, one pair in particular are made by a German company called Kalthoff which should be ideal. They cost £140:eek:
