Face Protection

Finding my (electric) wheels

Out on my Haibike Cross on Wednesday cycling into a Bristol park around 8-10 mph. Tried to turn (too acutely) on to pavement across a semicircular gutter. Front wheel slipped and tracked along the gutter. Next thing I'm over the handlebars and face planted. How did that happen, came to the conclusion that pedal jammed against vertical part of kerb whilst power still applied to back wheel. Anyway 2 hours in A&E for facial lacerations but no tooth loss etc. Anyway I am now determined to buy a helmet with some type of chin guard after what was a low speed incident but still nasty enough for me; but don't want to look like a moto GP rider. Much research on web. Really like the look of the Alpina king carapax but only 1 available in Uk and not large enough. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have to say that I’ve not an ‘off’ similar to yours Butkus chose my helmet with such a thought in mind, mine is a Laser Anverz NTA (in black) bought from Bikester.co.uk which is very solid, extremely comfortable and has well designed face protection in the form of a liftable visor.

It was mentioned on a thread somewhere here and because I only had a cheapo nasty job from Halfords (which self-destructed), this one cost me £140.00 and is well worth it’s higher initial cost, delivery was pretty quick also.
