Hi guys,

I'm a new member here, but been browsing a while, and read this thread some time ago. I've just ordered a Fast4ward Peak on our cycle to work scheme. It was due to arrive today, but I got a call yesterday from the supplier saying their mechanic was putting the bike together and found a fault with it, so they've cancelled the delivery while they get in another bike.

The problem she said was that the throttle didn't work. I told her what I'd read on here, and that it may not be faulty, just need plugging in, but I don't think she was really listening, and just said the mechanic had checked the bike and couldn't find the fault so they'd ordered another bike.

Can you tell me, are the throttles disconnected by default on these bikes from the factory? Maybe because they don't know which country they'll end up in where the throttle may not be allowed (mainland europe?). Or is it that some are mistakenly slipping through quality control at the factory and not being connected when they ought to be? I did say to her, you might find the next one is the same.

Thirty two views but no replies? I thought someone might have an idea, especially Mark Loveridge as he seems to be the man from the company that makes them. Still no word from the supplier yet on when the replacement will be with them, not a good start to e-biking....lol

Who is your supplier?

Your right, the throttle will just need plugging in at the controller. Its a 2 minute job.

Let me know who is supplying and I'll give them a call to sort!

Hi Mark,

Are they all shipped with it disconnected by default? I did try explaining to them. The supplier is Cycle Solutions (Wheelies Bike Shop corporate section). It's a week last Tuesday since they said they were ordering a new one, so not sure if they'd have sent the other bike back or not. I've heard nothing from them since.

Finally got my bike now, came last Tuesday. Been to work on it once, then rained for days, but had a good ride again today. I've done about 20 miles now, it's been very good, just s subtle feeling of being pushed along, but still gives you legs a workout.

The only thing that's not like all the reviews I read is it said the computer monitored all the battery stuff, and had speedo, trip and odometer. While it shows speed (although doesn't seem to update as quickly as a proper bike computer), it doesn't show trip or odometer, which is a really useful function for rides out. Have they changed the spec, or am I missing something?

I was thinking of fitting an additional wireless computer, but thinking the two sensors may interfere with each other, like picking up a double pulse throwing the reading out. Has anyone fitted two bike computers at once, and did they interfere with each other?

I'm thinking if I fit the magnet and sensor to the opposite side of the wheel, and opposite fork, they might be far enough away not to interfere, as you normally have to have the magnet and sensor quite close together for them to work.

Opposite sides for the two speedo sensors and magnets will definitely be ok Mark. As you say, they do have to be close to pick up at all.

Thanks Flecc, fitted one today, although went for a wired one in the end, as saw a few posts on here about wireless ones being interfered with by the motor. Valid point which I hadn't considered. Aldi did a very nice wired computer a couple of weeks ago for a fiver, and still had some, so got one of them, and mounted it next to the Fast4ward computer, matches pretty well too.

I've been using it for work all week, and it's been great, done my trip in 10 mins in both directions, usually takes me 12 mins in the car coming home with sitting in the traffic. Had a nice ride out with the wife tonight too, although had to keep slowing down for her to keep up...lol

Everyone who's seen the bike has liked it, and even more so when they had a go. It did 12mph into a headwind yesterday just on throttle, not bad considering I'm 15 and a half stone, and the same up a slightly hilly road, well more like a 1 in 6 incline. I still feel I get a workout from it, legs aching etc, but not the thigh burning, and loss of speed I got on my normal bike, which put me off using it, as it's the last thing you want after a hard days work. The motor lets you take a breather if you need to, while keeping going and maintaining your speed.
