My Bianchi Impulso e - road bike has developed a fault, after a full mechanical service and firmware update. The Mahle X35 motor no longer engages. The bike has been fault free for over 3 years, accumulating more than 8000 miles. The mechanic reckons its not a firmware problem but some physical/electronic component fault. He's replaced an electronic pass sensor and the i - woc system to no avail. He now reckons it might be the battery, but the Pulsar One display shows a healthy range. The bike's been out of action for over a month, now. I've now taken it to another bike shop. Any ideas? Was the bike damaged during its service?
Meanwhile, I've bought a Basso Vega e - gravel bike. It's a superb machine!
For over 40 years I've ridden conventional road bikes and joined the ebike revolution about 4 years ago, when I purchased a Cannondale e - road bike. (I occasionally still ride unplugged!!).

Can you explain a bit more: Was it fully working when you took it in for service, then not working when you went to collect it?

Why did you take it in for service, when there's nothing serviceable in it?

I have a service contract where the bike is serviced every 6 months. The bike was fully working when I took it in for a service, apart from a worn chain and rear sprockets. There was no problem with the electrics.

You didn't answer the second bit: Was it not working when you went to collect it?
without seeing anything, it sounds like they took the wheel off when they did that work, and when they put it back, they didn't push the motor connector in far enough. It has to be all the way to the marked line, not just in tight.

The mechanic said it was. I didn't realise it wasn't working until 6 miles into the ride I hit the hills. I had a tail wind and the lowest assistance setting feels like a tail wind, anyway. I increased to level 2 to help with the climb - to no avail.
I did mention the motor connector - it had been plugged in.

You're not listening. It has to be ALL THE WAY TO THE LINE.
