Daz,

You know more about types of fitness/exercise than me, but I think a Bosch motored bike would suit.

If you don't pedal, you don't go - there's no throttle.

The Bosch software rewards effort, the harder and faster you pedal, the more power comes from the motor.

There are several levels, meaning you can ration the power you take, and extend the battery.

It's an excellent system for those who want exercise with their ebiking.

something like the sirocco CD or Big Bear would do the job for less than half the price - they come with a throttle but Daz does not have to use it.

Yes, I agree. Doing the same course but on a slightly different lower rating as time goes on will increase fitness levels. On that basis, Bosch Classic displays might be better - they have 12 levels of assistance. I have this on my Ave XH-3 (2012 build).

Most people don't need such fine-grained control, so Bosch changed the interface to four levels in later designs.

I never knew that halfer, thanks. I'm currently deliberating between a second hand or new Pro Connect / Endeavour so that makes things interesting. Having another bodybuilder recommend the BS10 has put that or an old S at the top of the list.

I've ruled out Woosh as the big bear isn't in stock and tbh I don't like the battery position - so old school and I think it'll affect the handling... I'd rather not feel like I'm moving a full pannier around unless I actually am ;)

I've also ruled out Kudos (sorry Dave) as I just don't want a mountain bike style bike, silly I know but there it is.

Hey Daz, I train a lot with a HRM to stay in the fat burning/ aerobic zones and have found the BS10 ideal as with the extra power it has allowed me to keep a steady cadence and highish average speed whilst keeping my HR at a steady level. Also the extra power from the 2 highest levels are a serious plus when my knees cry enough and i have to reduce my power input.
Glad to see your taking your L2&3, Iam L4 PT specialising in training the disabled. Cheers Gaz

Be aware BS10 is illegal to ride on roads essentially it is classed as a moped but without the ability to legally ride it. The only place you can legally ride it is offroad locations where public have no access.Just want to make you aware though I am sure you are.

There are plenty of legal Bosch bikes out there should you wish to choose them.

Cube and Ave have some nice ones if you are not keen on KTM. There are a number of Ave bikes available with older display

Which HRM do you use Gaz? Sounds spot on for me - think I'm going to so S10 though rather than the BS10 as it has a larger battery and I can't really see any improvements that the BS10 has over the 2012 S10? Seems like the same motor etc.

That's fantastic that you specialise in the disabled - have you taken out any additional insurance in case the worst happens and you make their condition worse and they sue?

How exactly can you declare yourself L4 - I can't find on the REPS site the info on this. Just one L4 course + time?

I just bought a cheap ant+ HRM from decathlon which works a treat with my galaxy note 3 with Endomondo or strava . If i was buying now i would also go for the S10/11 for the bigger battery as that is the only minus that i have encountered with the bosch system. Insurance is a prerequisite 5 million min although i have 10.
There are many L4 courses, but since 2011 you have to be already L3 with 150 plus hours experience/ practice together with specialist L4 qualifications, ie obesity and diabetes management, training in later life, lower back specialties etc, etc...REPS have belatedly started to recognise those of us with specialist qualifications/ experience rather than lumping us all in with those who do 2 month training course and go straight in at L3, nothing wrong with those courses per say just made it a bit of a mockery for those of us with specialist qualifications and 25 plus years experience.
