I want to add a kit to one of my MTBs.Ive measured between the forks, the distance on one is 1000mm and the other is 1200.Ive been in contact with a manufacturer who says he can add a motor to any size wheel but I would need to order a few kits.Is there a standard width?I dont see why people should be having to widen their forks as you have to with the Alien kit.

There is a variety of front fork spacing available. The standard is front modern mtb hubs 100mm, rear standard mtb 135mm. Some tandems and downhill bikes have up to 160mm rear. Track bikes have around 110-120mm rear. Really old bikes can go down to 90mm front and 110 rear. Most E-bikes use oversized front hubs, therefor needing specific forks to fit them. If you want a kit fitted to an mtb, you will either have to find some specific forks to cope with the oversized hub, find a kit that fits 100mm forks, or put your cowboy hat on and bend your forks....yeehaaaa(not recommended atall.).

Thats me. People often yawn whilst talking to me, I turn into super-geek at the mere mention of anything bike/car/electric related. :D
You're not that bad Lloyd! You could have rambled off into the folding bike territory of 70 to 75 mm front hubs, an even bigger problem to motorise. :(
