Frost warning for new cyclists

Just joined. I'm very pleased with my new Wisper 705se that I bought to enjoy country lanes at weekends. It does what I want - I pedal easily with motor switched off, except for hills where I switch on and gently pedal and glide to the top! (Great for gleefully overtaking my OH on his ordinary bike ;) .) I couldn't wait to go for my 2nd ride on it this morning, but after a few miles was feeling rather sorry for myself - couldn't see ice on the road, and came off. So I've got a hurting knee and ankle but am glad it was not worse and that no vehicle was behind as I fell into the road. It didn't look icy when I went out, just a little frost in occasional patches. No more bike riding for me if there's any suspicion of frost still about!

Join the club, I've got a bust thumb and scrapes all over after a couple of falls. My ice tyres are on the way, I'm hoping they will do the trick. :)

Oh, yes. I think I saw another thread with mention of ice tyres. Falling off made me a bit nervous. think I'll get more experienced at cycling in non-icy conditions first. Maybe next year...

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the timely warning Rose, tonight is forecast to be one of the coldest this year to date, so especial care will be called for tomorrow.

I was interested to see you have one of those rarities, the Wisper 705se. Many members have inquired about the performance etc of these as bikes for wives etc but little knowledge has been available. Therefore, as you might imagine, we would appreciate a review of your bike in due course when you've gained experience of it, giving your impressions.

There's a review section in the site where you can copy the review template at the top to paste into a new thread in that section, titled Wisper 705se, completing as necessary:

Reviews section

The review won't appear immediately as they go through admin first.

OK, flecc. When I've got to know my bike a bit better I'll write a review.
