Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi Im new to electric bikes (lung problems at the age of 71 stopped me riding my normal bike) so I bought myself a Powacycle Windsor. I like this bike very much apart for the fact it keeps cutting out at the most inoportune moments. Did I buy wrong or is this normal? I have cleaned the battery teminals in the battery case and on the bike all to no avail. I'm ignorant about electronics so if anyone can help I'll be forever in your debt. The dealer I bought the bike from is 70+ miles from home so a return visit is not on. I live in Bucks and made a spur of the moment buy so hope I will not regret it. I must say I enjoy this site enormously and wish you all well. Thanks Gangang

The Windsor is a quite low powered e-bike, but it is optimised for climbing and assisted speeds below 15 mph only, so it shouldn't be cutting out.

Normally such cutouts are caused by the battery voltage supplied dropping to below the safe cutoff level, and the simple system for that on the Windsor doesn't require it to be switched off and then on again to reset. In practice it just cuts in and out of power in a snatching way as the battery gets very low.

If it's doing that when the battery is freshly charged or at any time in the first 10 miles or so after charging, there is a fault, most likely with the battery but possibly with a poor connection elsewhere.

Therefore dealer attention is desirable as it's new. Have a look on this webpage at the Powacycle dealer list to see if there's one closer to you who could have a brief look at it to see if it's anything obvious.

If not, get in touch with Powacycle direct by using the "Contact us about our bikes" link on the left of that page to see what help or advice they can offer. Let us know how you get on.
