Gartree wind farm application public planning meeting this tuesday 26th

i just got this email about the Gartree wind farm application in market harborough. does anyone want to join me in support of the proposal at the public planning meeting on this tuesday 26th January ? looks like we will be out-numbered 12:1 by NIMBY's tho.


Dear Sir/Madam,

Please find attached a letter from Harborough District Council to advise you of next Tuesday's Planning Committee meeting to decide the Gartree wind farm application. All are welcome to attend, but on a first come first served basis. Speakers need to register by Monday lunchtime, with Sharon Iddison as per number below. There have been 2,564 letters of objection and 206 letters of support as of Monday 18th January. The Committee report is available via the Council website.

I don't know anything about this instance but many places are unsuitable for wind farms as few get enough constant wind to be viable.

Although I don't live there I'll give it moral support and wish it well. There are way too many NIMBYs about who are more concerned with their perceived property values than making some contribution to preventing catastrophic global warming. Hope it succeeds.

I wish there was a similar scheme for a community-owned wind farm near me.
