We have just swapped a ladies and mens Schwinn Continentals for 2 Raleigh Leicester Deluxe. We considered lots of options but Flecc has influenced me, his great technical writing means that any of us with a Panasonic unit can via his instructions sort out any problems. :) Oh and why I am on my soap box, congrats Flecc on your recent milestone, keep it up.

Yesterday i took my bike out for a shake down and found myself searching out hills to climb. The build quality out of the German factory is gorgeous and the Raleigh appears to be the Agattu Tasman, everything which is fitted is top draw.

Thanks also to Hildersthorp Cycles, the pdi was superb. The Kalkhoff range is sold under lots of other labels as well, I looked outside the obvious ones, take it from the Schwinnfan folks, geared motors are more fun.

North West Snow

Cheers Tony,

Its not been too bad up here, each time we have had snow it has melted within a day or two. The bikes are for pleasure and leisure, so nicer weather would be lovely. They are taller than the Schwinns and only just fit in the motorhome. Will measure anything I buy in future. ;)

Antoher thing Tony

Tony, I fkorgot to say thanks, your input influenced what we bought. We have booked in kendal in a few weeks, the ride to Bowness and back is a hard 39 miles which the Schwinns just managed, it will a good test for the new bikes.
Cheers M8

Yes, they are tall, very Germanic! Glad they fit though.

You're lucky with the weather it seems, our snow is very reluctant to go and minor routes and cyclepaths are still too much of a mess for cycling.

You should make that 39 miles if you go easy on the high power mode and power off for the easy sections.

The front suspension got them in, just. I dont know about taking it easy, following my missus is like chasing an untethered husky, but i promise to switch the power off on the downhills that always follow the uphills. :D
