Hi Flecc , I hear what you are saying about rival battery chemistry systems . It reminds me of the time when we had two rival systems for video recorders , Betamax and VHS . In the end a clear winner emerges . Same with 8 track tape players and reel-to-reel . In the end , a clear leader emerges , and this can be for all sorts of reasons . We do not necessarily get the best , we get what is most profitable for the manufacturers . The battery of tomorrow may be none of the above , but some thing we have yet to hear of . Or a capacitor . When people buy a car , the majority are buying a way to travel . And most have no option but to buy whatever does the job at the lowest costs . Bikes are different because many are bought as toys , which is a different ball game .

There were three, the best one for quality being the Philips V2000, but like the Sony Betamax, too late for a market which JVC had already sewn up via stocks in hire libraries.

Flecc, pretty accurate description of the state of play re electric cars, I know that if I looked at a Prius s/hand I would want to pay the cost of the battery pack below that of a normal car just in case, although in Oz that isn't being reflected in the market yet.

I am in contact with an asian battery supplier who says he can make a 16Ah LifePo4 weighing less than 5 kgs and good for 3000 plus cycles,.

Perhaps he's putting Red Bull to the cathode that's why they are so light. Dave I learnt that Chinese often make many claims taken out of the cloud, most obviously are pure rubbish.

all the best
