Well done. It's a very good price. I will lace my Tongxin wheel on the fork, just like I did with the Bafang...but that's mainly because I'm cheaper than cheap :D (I need to save pennies to retrospectively fund my Cycle Analyst  )

:)

Certifiable :p

I know how hard it can be to resist these shiny new tools but always hard to justify for specialist tools you're not likely to use much. At that price though you only need to build one wheel instead of getting a bike shop to do it and you'll make your money back (assuming it turns out O.K.).

Perhaps you could offer a wheel building service to other forum members... ;)

Love it

Posts temptation for me and says its a great buy and I should get one, then says he didn't bother ;)

I haven't even built a wheel yet

I think its clear in other posts that DIYers trying to turn this stuff into a cottage industry does not have a high success rate. Just dealing with returns and bodged DIY attempts to fit kits, must make it all a nightmare. I would always prefer to keep it fun.

Its nice if you can help out a mate or a fellow enthuiast but thats about it. I specialise in IT and have sorted out peoples home PCs/Laptops for free but even then it becomes your job whenever any future problems occur!

Didn't you read my email where I said I'd pop-in to borrow your tools ? :D :p

hmmmm lol

Anyway I few bits are beginning to arrive now for my Tongxin/A123 based Brompton project, so I will set about creating a post to follow its progress.

These projects are not for the impatient. Sourcing, ordering and waiting for parts takes time and that's before the assembly even starts to take place!

Jerry,

good move on sourcing the wheel truing stand. Gonna have to 1 get myself. I've laced 2 motors into rims using the wheel in fork method  and it's a little time consuming but strangely satisfying ;) It's like anything, practice makes perfect. If you're anything like me you'll have to go back over it again after you've used the wheel a bit as it all settles down. The last motor I laced onto is a bit offset, so I had to dish it quite a bit. Didn't turn out so bad, if I say so myself :D

I'm sure you've already got it, but below is Sheldon Browns instructions:

Building Bicycle Wheels by Sheldon Brown

Here's a little video instruction which I found very useful:

How to True a Bicycle Wheel: Bicycle Wheel Building | eHow.com

Here's a spoke calculator:

Sapim Race spokes and nipples

Have you sourced a rim and spokes yet? Sourcing the right length spokes is a bit of a nightmare here.

Thanks for the links though I am familiar and have seen them all :p

I am sourcing the spokes off ebay from Tawian.
