Embarked on my longest ride to date. I have a Dahon Vitesse D7 Electric folder from C H Whites of Malmsbury. I have been delighted with it and have been pleased with the battery performance. I have used it on many trips of up to 25 miles but unsure as to just how far I could go on a charge. I am partially disabled from polio but try to use leg power as much as possible. With this in mind, I caught the train from Cardiff to Merthyr and cycled back along the Taff Trail. What a great route. Although mostly along old railway track beds, there are still some short, severe climbs and some head winds to contend with. Anyway, I clocked up 35 miles and still seemed to be plenty of life left. On this point, do the batteries suddenly cut out as with a Li-ion drill or is there a gradual loss of power?
Cheers,
Jim
PS
On a light note, my cycling companion was a fit and healthy individual riding a modern, light weight mountain bike. Every time I overtook him on a steep climb, all I could hear were mutterings of B*****d, B*****d!
