Haibike Xduro 2014 Bosch drive chain length query

Looking for some help please. (My bike doesn't have the Bosch small idling/tensioning sprocket fitted).
I have recently purchased a new 9 speed chain as the other was well worn. I purchased a KMC model to replace the shimano one. The new one was 136 links long so I cut it down to the same length as the original one-removing 10 links-making it 126 links long.
My irritating noise has gone but the chain doesn't look right? it looks to be too long whilst in top gear (obviously always been like this-bought the bike second hand so might not be the original chain?)
Does anyone else have this model?
Can you count your links for me please?

Wrap the chain around the largest chainwheel and largest sprocket ( not including the derallier ) add one complete link that will give you the correct length of chain.
