Handlebar extensions

Is there such a thing on the market as a handlebar extension, not to the left and right, but in front?

So, you'd have your normal bars, then about four inches in front, a second bar to carry gubbins (computers, lights, etc). Only about 15 inches across, and obviously just aluminium would do, as all it would be for would be to take all that stuff off the proper handlebars.

Any ideas?

Now that's a good idea. How about those bar-end forward extensions, joined across by an alloy bar?

Thanks Lloyd, just the job; thanks for the help.

What bar-end forward extensions, Dave?

There are a few makes and styles depending on just what you want. I have a topeak, and one like the proline- try here for some of the varieties.

Many thanks aseb, just the job. I'm sure one of that lot will suit fine.

Dave: have a look at aseb's link. It was those sort of forward extensions I was looking for, rather than left-right bar-end extensions.

What I meant was, it would be a trivial matter to attach a piece of alloy tube spanning the bar end extensions - like a rally bar. Now I think of it, I've a mind to do that.

Yes, see your point, Dave. If I had some spare clamps in my gander bag I'd try it, but that's always the problem, the bits, ain't it.

As it was I bought the Topeak version from Chain Reaction (no postage), which will do what I need.

Thanks for the replies.
