Has anyone fitted a Hobson Pro-Hub x2 saddle?

Sadly there's only one way to find out with saddles and that's to try it, preferably borrowed.
Sometimes a narrow saddle can be more comfortable than wide.
As Eddie says the dropper is not going to help at all though a good quality suspension seat post might.
I found a telescopic one actually gave me a bad back but the parallelogram type was brilliant.
If you do a search there's quite a few threads covering the topic where you might get more info.
Dave.

Why would a dropper seat post improve on road comfort?

They aren't suspension seat posts.
I often find that the discomfort comes from back ache and thighs rather than sore bum, adjusting seat post height eases my back and thighs.

Seat too low can damage your knees, they are designed for mountain bikes for very short term drops.

My own experience suggests that a mattress saddle is best. I tried a 'Big Bum ' saddle but it too had a hard plastic base under all the gel.
So far, the Specialised Expedition plus has prove best for me, but the cloth covering wear out after 12 months.
I tried the RiDo saddle, that has a hard plastic base, but you can shift your posture back and fore along the saddle to ease matters. Unfortunately, they do not have any springs and the frames are made of hollow titanium tubes that are not a patch on solid steel wire. Belgian cobblestones put paid to the Rido.

I have already changed my saddle to the biggest sprung design that i could find. Still not comfortable enough for me, would one of these Hobson saddles improve, anyone tried them? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOBSON-PRO-HUB-X2-COMFORTABLE-GEL-BICYCLE-SADDLE-ERGONOMIC-DUAL-PAD-BIKE-SEAT-/251593748268?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3a9427ef2c
Saddles are such a personal thing it is impossible to advise.

But this being the internet, I will say that too wide a saddle could cause your hips to rock on the down stroke of the pedals.

That could be cured by lowering the saddle, but as has been said, most riders find that leads to knee problems.

Do you wear Lycra shorts, padded or otherwise?

Worth doing, I use mine as underpants with whatever trouser I fancy over them.

The crotch on ordinary underpants can ruck up while riding, making a knot of fabric which scrapes against the sensitive bits.

My Brooks Swift is about 700 miles used now. Sometimes it is bliss, other times not so much, but there isn't any discomfort after the ride. As it is often said, they just keep getting better. None leather saddles don't.

GMM, a suspension seat post might also help. I have one fitted to both of my bikes, and although I'm currently thinking of removing the one from the MTB, I have to say that they are very efficient. I'm only thinking of removing the MTB one, as I feel that it is absorbing my pedal strokes when under load of climbing. This wouldn't be an issue on the road.
If you have a 31.6mm seat stem size, and live close to Crowborough, you would be welcome to try it.

I also find my bargain £20.00 Charge Spoon very comfortable.

Funny you should say that...

I've tried several saddles, 140mm & 180mm, hard shell & soft, with & without 'oles:
Best for me is a 140mm with thin gel over hard shell, but Must have an anatomical groove! I still get uncomfortable at about 25 miles; then bung on a gell cover, which gets me home.

Never any discomfort once I'm off the bike - seems to be just pressure on my sit bones causing a fiery ache.

A couple of years ago I got an absess.... No need explain where but it was bad with a capital "B" Doctor and research suggests it could have been cycling related so I bought a softer saddle with a gap down the middle. This is quite comfortable but seems to restrict circulation over long distances so gone back to the hard racing type.....
