Having trouble with my eBay bargain, Part 2

Hello all,
I could do with some help getting my speed controller wired up.
I've been through all the usual troubleshooting tips and all looks good bit still nothing moves, there's a click from a relay when I throttle up?
Anybody recognise the controller? do you think the purple and brown wires are optional?
Any help would me massively appreciated.

The orange wire is the critical one. It has to be connected to the battery positive to power the controller. Purple is for the brake. That shouldn't affect the normal function if you leave it disconnected.
