I have a pristine VanMoof S3 that refuses to charge and also seemingly has IT issues .
Is there a simple solution ?!
Or is this an inherent VanMoof problem that means I should scrap the bike ?!
Have any of you experiences of this ?!

Shame, I do like the concept of VanMoof. Some great innovative ideas

I've never had an S3. My comment was I like the design concept.
Lights built into the frame, a 'kick' lock, etc

Possibly the fact it doesnt look like the standard generic bso with rear wheel motor and battery thrown on to it. Bikes like that have put morew people off cycling than had them stick with it.
Garden ornaments for the most part :D

There are probably more VanMoof garden ornaments than any other brand. All the electronics are bespoke and integrated, so repair for most people is almost impossible. In their heyday, every social media bombarded you with them. I hate to think how many people were suckered into buying them.

It's not just VanMoof: Other such experiments have come and gone the same way, in particular, the various all-in-one wheels, like the Copenhagen Wheel and all it's derivatives as well as the Chinese attempts.

How depressing and what a loss/ waste of money.

So scrap the unused bike it is then further to your advice and from consultation with local bike doctor !!

Will donate it to the local electric bike doctor in hope that it can be broken down into spare parts so that other VanMoof owners can at least have some benefits, trusting that their bikes actually physically work and that the "over complicated IT system" works or doesn't think that the bike is stolen ?? !!

Anyway, lesson learned , I will stick to walking and abandon all hope in electric bikes !!!

Many thanks for your comments / help .

All the best.

No need for dispair. If you get a standard £500 - £600 Amazon ebike, you'll be fine. You just need to avoid the ebikes with gimmicks, new technology, innovations and marketing hype. Ask if you need any help to choose one.

It's always possible to repair an electric bike. Where about do you live?
