Hi. I am new to electric bikes, but live in a rather hilly area so need some help to get up the hills! I have a secondhand Yamaha Pas which is working fine, but I need to replace the battery. The bike is several years old, so can anyone help as to where I might find a new battery, please? Thanks in advance.

Hi Nicky,
And welcome to the pedelecs. There are, I believe, different versions of the Pas, so it might help those who can help you to know which version you have, how old it is, and if possible a photograph, of the bike and the existing battery - there are often generic ones that may fit in place of the original:)

The early Yamaha PAS type e-bikes used NiCad, NiMh or Lithium batteries depending on age, but most were NiMh. There has been no UK source of replacement batteries for some years now.

However, in Europe these bikes sold for several more years beyond their discontinuation here, so on German ebay NiMh cellpacks are available to recell the case. I don't know which yours uses, you'd need to open the pack to find out, but the link below shows the selection available from Germany:

NiMh cellpacks, for Yamaha on German ebay

Of course you'll need to wire in the pack following the previous connection details, or find someone to do that for you.

And if you ask very nicely, there is someone on the forum who would very probably do that for you ;-]
A read through some of the other threads relating to batteries should reveal who that is!

Here are some photos of the battery that is not holding its charge. I don't know exactly how old the bike is, but probably around 10 years. It works perfectly well otherwise! Thanks for any help. Bike 1.jpg Bike 2.jpg Bike 3.jpg Bike 4.jpg
