hope you could give me a clue i am a fair at tec stuff but please be easy on me
i have a imaginarium mick bike (made and sold in spain friend used 3 times and then left in shed for the last 9 months unused )

after charging the battery for 6-8 hours green light come on very fast but still i charged for the full 8 hours put the battery in to the bike switch on pull throttle
wheel spins only if bike is lifted up or as to say no load appled if put on floor moves very slow as long as no person sits on bike then you only hear a low noise

battery after charging shows 36.7 volts

batterys inside battery case 3x 6-dfm-7 12volt 7ah batterys in series providing 36.7 volts when charged ( this to me seams a little low as cars battery show up to 14.4 volt when full charge this is normaly a little more ?)

i do not mind changing the batterys but want to make sure it is the batterys are the problem first

any help greatfull

thanks angel

Lo sentimos, esta tienda no existe.

i think this means no item listed or exists

is there any way to test the bike parts or give the bike some power as to move me on the road so i can say yes it is batterys is the fault or how to test battery pack

thanks angel

If you can rig your meter to show the 36 volts while you attempt to move off with the throttle, that will help Angel.

Then is the voltage collapses as soon as you open the throttle to move off, it's almost certain the batteries are dud.

lifting bike no load volts 34.4 when you put bike on the ground under load volts are 32.7volts

any help

taken battery case apart tested batterys one by one but still in series (did not disconect)

1st battery still full charge 10.8volts
2nd battery 12.8volts
3rd battery 12.3 volts

looks like one battery is looking bad one is close to the mark one is passable ?

Koolgachet Battery

Hi,

My battery looks as if it has packed up, been on charge for 12 months but bike not used. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase a replacement in the UK ?

I believe the Koolgachet pack is a 12V, 36Ah sealed lead acid pack. Judging by the shape of it, I suspect it is made from either two 6V, 36Ah packs in series, or two 12V, 18Ah packs in parallel (or possibly some other combination of smaller packs).

Unless someone comes along who knows the internals of that pack (flecc?) then the best advice is to take the screws out of the pack and see what's inside it currently. It will be easy to find suitable new batteries and fit them inside the old case as long as you're OK with a little mechanical tinkering.

It does use 3 x 12 volt 12 Ah packs, but I don't know the exact dimensions of those. If you open up the pack as Fecn has advised, you'll be able to measure the three millimetre dimensions and buy new packs from that, wiring them back in exactly the way you found them.

This posting by Footie lists a range of suppliers, and it's also worth checking out ebay.

You've got one dead one - the one sitting at 10.8 volts. What usually happens is one cell goes short circuit, so you lose about two volts. The consequence is that your charger will work overtime to attempt to make up the shortfall (which it never does) and this overcharges the remaining cells, so the battery will get somewhat warm (the charger too, probably) and things can only get worse.

Do replace the whole set. One new one would have a much higher capacity than the older ones, those would get overcharged every time, and their life would be a short one. That's a cardinal rule with any series battery set - all batteries identical, and replaced as a set.

Rog.
