I thought I'd join as I've been reading the forums for info in my quest for a second hand ebike, I stopped driving a few years back as I get a 3 year licence on medical grounds and the next licence would be my 13th, I've been riding an old Marin, upgraded to a Whyte 529 and age is becoming a factor on my commute, so I've bought a 2nd hand Rock Machine, a Crossride 350e with a womans's frame, I think they were sold by Millets & Go Outdoors.

It appears to be a hardly used bargain, the battery holds a charge pretty well, I had a hiccup where the screen froze and wouldn't switch off, but unlocking the battery and refitting it cured the issue, just I forgot I had a battery key when it froze so had 5 miles unassisted pedalling to get home, to find the key in my pocket :D

I picked it up Friday afternoon and am pretty impressed so far, I've reset the trip counter twice by mistake so don't know how far I've been, the battery is 500mw and did around 60km on 60% of the charge and if the odometer is right it'd only done 114 km when I bought it, seems to need a can lead & dealer software to get into the controller to change to mph but it looks little worn.

Anyway hello :)

Hrumph! We call em step thru's these days ;)

My Top-Tip for you atm is that e-bike manuals/instructions etc can be found by using the display units details in the search. since the display is your interface to the 'system'. so if your display is labelled KTlcd-3 for example a google search for " ktlcd3 manual pdf" will provide a list of manual links with a page count for relevant pdf files.. this is useful in filtering out the 2-3page intro documents from the detailed manuals..

That is if no one else knows your bike and has a direct link ;)

losing display mid ride points at a bad connection, check the battery makes a good positive connection when mounted, if attempting to bend battery contacts use a lolly stick or other non metalic tool ;)

enjoy your bike and welcome in here,,

It's a nice bike. I hope it gives thousands of miles of pleasure. The only problem I see is the possibility to fix it if anything goes wrong. The motor system is made in the Czech Republic and not very common. Rock Machine only list one dealer in Liverpool. Maybe there are more.

I'm not as young as I was but a step thru (to me) was made by Honda in either 50, 70 or 90cc :D

Good point about connections as the fault happened when a panier caught a gate post and I banged the bike on the other one.

Cheers, the motor I think is made by 'Dapu' and it's a sport drive, Dealer manual I've some studying to do on how to connect a pc at some point down the line, but I'm working on a worse case scenario where I'd change the control unit and peripherals, or get the Yose power kit (as was the original plan).

Edit, 'Bike Fun International' are the ones who make Rock Machine I think.

One thing I've discovered is that Ridgeback use the same drive system on some of their Ebikes, their 'Arcus' appears to be the same bike as mine which is interesting from a spare parts point of view, but to buy the USB lead to plug into the can bus is £250.

I think I should just enjoy the bike while it works and worry about fixing it when it breaks :D

And enjoying it I certainly am, it's been great for commuting and decent for shopping and head winds are a thing of the past, and it's an odd feeling going up a certain hill on the way to my eldest's that no longer feels like a hill. 8 levels of assistance and level 3's more than enough.
