Higgs Boson has been found.

Now all we need is some success in the search for those elusive, much heralded, mythical electric bike kits.

Higgs Boson has been found.
Second time it's been found. First time they weren't quite sure there was a particle, this second time they're sure it's a particle but with no conclusive proof it is the legendary Higgs boson one.

Third time lucky?

I'm a bit confused by this I'll admit. Surely if they have definatley found a particle (to 5 sigma/99.9999% certaintly) and it certainly has all the properties expected of the Higgs......then its the Higgs, isn't it? Its not like its going to introduce itself(" ahh, CERN I presume?") or have a handy name badge !

BTW this is not aimed at you flecc - what you say is reflected across the media. I just don't get it !

And apologies for going WAAAAY off e bike topic

Understood Kirstin! I'm a bit of a cynic with these announcements, as it seems some in the media are.

I'd prefer to wait until something totally conclusive is known, the Higgs boson concept is after all highly theoretical anyway since it's only ever been a guess that there is such a particle with the answer to "everything". Basically where we are now is that if there is such a particle, then we are 99.9999% certain we've found it!

Meanwhile, until it's definite, I'll stick with number 42. ;)

And a connecting widget enabling any battery to be used on any ebike - no, mustn't be unrealistic ...
;-)
.
You're in luck. They've already found it. I saw it on an electric bike down the town centre. It was long and thin and bendy. I waited for the guy to come back so that I could ask him about it. He said its called wire.

"We apologise for the Inconvenience"

so I shall forget about this definately-found-a-thing-that-might-not-exist striaght away as it makes my head hurt

I have been so close to discovering the elusive particle, only last week thought I had it..... Removed my front tyre, but sadly the mystery particle that caused the puncture had gone.

At least you now know it turned up at Cern, John.

That southern biased jet-stream that we are suffering from this year obviously to blame. ;)

Isn't science wonderful, it's got the answer to everything.
