Hill Climbing or not

It's always interesting to get an insight into how other bikes perform. In the review on the Freego, on the 50Cycles site, it mentions how Nightingale Hill in Richmond defeated the eZee Torq and gave 'renowned hill climber' Quando a hard time.

I've climbed that hill many times on my Tasman and found no need to drop below 5th gear for a perfectly relaxed ride.

It would be great to see a comprehensive test of the main forms/ makes of e-bike in the hands of the same riders over the same course.

I tested motorcycles for a newspaper for a while and it was great going along to someone like Honda in Chiswick (at the time) and picking up whopping great bike to use for a few days.

What I mean is, I'm volunteering :D

That is the sort of review most of us would like to see,it will never happen though, trouble is all the sellers are only looking for the most favourable reviews,if you try to get a fair result of hillclimbing ability i think most sellers would not be interested or would try and complain against the results achieved.

Panasonic bikes will perform best on very steel hills but won't be as good* on normal hills, shops will always pick the most favourable answer.
It would be nice to know how the other bikes were defeated, I assume they didn't fall apart or lose traction so the test must have been conducted with a very weak rider.

* Good is subjective, some would call high speed good and others would call minimal human effort good. Personally I just want to go faster. :)

As Mussels says, the drive through the gears systems like the Paansonic motor will always have the steep climb advantage, that's why motor vehicles have gearboxes of course.

Also it depends which Torq. The current Torq 2 is quite good on hills, but the very fast Torq 1 sacrificed hill climbing for speed and was the worst hill climber on motor power alone of all e-bikes.
