What kind of attributes am I looking for in a good Ebike suited to go up/down hills? Someone said Woosh has a high torque Hub Motor for this kind of thing.

Although I'm not going to recommend any one particular brand of bike, I would say that if the hills are moderate, then a hub motor is fine. If the hills are monstrous, then a crank/mid drive would be better suited. Just my two pennies worth :)

For down hill any ebike will do as long as it has front and back wheel :p.

For up hill depends on the climb % and distance, along with riders ability and weight.

This is just an opinion only, but I have a 250 Watt motor and for really steep hills, I just go now a cog or three.....With 21 gears, one of them has got to be right!
The motor and the controller I have work really well together, even when going really slow.....
That has been my personal experience on both of my e-bikes and a few others I have tried out!
That is in over 8 years of e-biking.....But I may have been just lucky.....
See if they have one for you to try out before purchase.....a couple of days should do it!
regards and best wishes
Andy

My hot rodded Carrera will climb anything, but it murders the battery on steeper climbs. A mid drive doesn't have this issue as long as you make full use of the gears. A mid drive costs more though most of the time, a powerful hub like the ones woosh uses will probably be fine for most situations, paired with a good battery capacity of course

weight = 19 stone. incline = 30/40. what you think.
3 in 4 isn't an incline, it is stairs, no it's a ladder...

I am around 80 kg and the Mxus XF08 climbs 13% at 25 km/h with me giving plenty of welly. The GSM mid drive wants to pop wheelies on 20% inclines if you pedal too hard. It may seem counter productive but the GSM climbs slower than the hub drive because:

- you are in the right gear
- if you spin too fast you get back EMF and the motor stops assisting.

On the other hand in the correct gear it will climb anything, probably including stairs if mounted in a FS eMTB.

if you want to stay legal, it's easy. Bosch CX, Yamaha PW-X or Woosh Big Bear.
In kits, BBSHD which is not road legal but no member has reported any hassle by the police yet.
