Hi, I recently bought a Heinzmann 24V 250W Front Wheel Motor. It was not working and would not rotate backwards but I thought I would take a chance as externally it did not look too bad & the rim & spokes were in good condition.
When I opened it up & it peered inside it looked like it had spent quite some time in a river (or maybe a canal)! I have heard that they are nearly indestructable so thought I would try and get it working. So far I have managed to strip it down and free up the reduction gear but the moter is still siezed. To access the brushes & the motor I need to remove the LH side cover plate (the side where the torque link is attached & the cable comes out). I have revoved the spring clip/retaining ring that keeps the cover in place but I can not get the cover to budge. So far I have tried a three legged puller as tight as I dare and hammering wooden wedges between the cover & the metal suppotrs under the cover but no joy. I am reluctant to use heat as I will most likely damage the bearing, so I am now at a bit of a loss on how to proceed.
If anyone can give me some advice I will be very grateful?
The photos are of a 24V motor with the cover plate fitted and also with it removed removed (not my motor unfortunately).
