Following similar to the serial number conventions that some Chinese battery companies use, including a previous supplier to eZee, it could be 28th April 2008. That's just a hunch though, and it would make the battery a few months old when you bought it.

Good performance at over three years old though, wish they had all have been like that from that time.

Hi Tony,

Surprisingly, there are still a number of the old Phylion batteries going strong, only last week I had a customer who had a couple that were still showing over 41v.

The current generation Lithium Polymer seem to be performing really well so far and we have high expectations of them.

My reference wasn't to the eZee bike batteries of 2008 John, I too had an excellent Phylion made one from January of that year, it was the best 10 Ah one I've ever used. My comment was a slight on many of the cheaper e-bike batteries of that era which gave 18 months life if one was lucky.

Hi Tony,

I have just been surprised at how many good Phylion batteries there are given their reputation for early failure.

Thanks Fleck for that guess you would be about right, would have been original, do you know if these can be repacked , or is it best different battery.

I doubt you'd be able to get the cells suitable for this any more and different ones probably wouldn't match it's BMS. The newest batteries are even better though, capable of many more charges, so I think that's the best option once the Sanyo one is finished.

My 2007 Phylion has just completed 400 charge cycles. It does cut out at least once on every trip though, range is now just under 10 miles. I know it will be completely unusable when the temperatures start cooling down. The voltage reaches 41.9 on a full charge but on some days it can drop to cutoff rather quickly, especially going uphill. I'm planning on replacing it very soon, but might keep it as a spare.
