Hi

Apart from the weather keeping my mileage down I haven`t been 100% of late. Been getting some calf muscle twitching that the doctor tells me isn`t serious as many many people suffer with it but it ain`t nice none the less. I`m trying some magnesium tablets at present so we will see.

Q. My son phoned me today with regards my views on an electric barrow( not a wheel barrow) but a barrow made for carp fishermen to carry all the gear to the waters edge (when he showed me the gear he packs for an overnight fish I couldn`t believe it) Anyway, there is a company making such a thing Carp Porter™ | Home | Manufacturer of the Carp Porter tackle transportation range. click on products and look at the Power Porter Mk5 to get an idea.
Anyway, I said I`d mention it on here to see if anyone had any knowledge on them. He was asking if i thought it possible to make something up himself? As I see it the problem would be the size of the front wheel and that`s probably why that web site is using a bolt on type of motor.

He has the Mk4 S model which is similar to the motorised one and wondered if he could motorize that?
I did point out that he could probably buy an electric bike kit with a small wheel and make up his own barrow but the added problem is that it must be collapsible to be able to transport it to and from the waters edge from home.

Any Views or ideas?

Dave

The motor/gearbox looks very like the EMD invalid carriage and golf trolley items.
The one in the link looks to have a hollow shaft as used on a golf trolley I have that might be relatively easy to adapt with a new shaft and bushing in the forks. An ' R ' pin might provide drive and the possibility of freewheeling.
A number of gear ratios were available from the manufacturer.
