My thoughts is that over a extended period of time, the brightness of the light will diminish to the point of it being extinguished, and doubt it will be able to regenerate any longer than one hour IMHO

That's brilliant. I'm off to Maplin tomorrow to get some of those solar panels. I've already got a load of those ultra-bright LEDs. How many do you think I'll need to light my living-room, bedroom and kitchen? This will save me a fortune.
