Insurance on a home build bike.

Hi, anybody had experience with insuring a home build bike.

I converted my Specialzed Crosstrial to electric mid drive (250w). It was stolen from my garage. Now up-rated the garage and built a 2nd bike from the insurance money. But they only paid out the value of the parts.

If this one gets stolen I would like to just to go and buy a ready built bike.

The parts for this cost approx £1500, but if I had to buy an equivalent it would cost me £2600.

So question is how do I get insurance for the replacement value (2600) rather than the receipts for the parts

Locks and CCTV will be cheaper and more reliable than insurance.

My bike is insured for the value of the parts and I am very pleased with that.
