August 4, 20187 yr Hi everyone, As in the subject line, it seems a lot of manufacturers selling 700C conversion kits also advertise them to be suitable for 29er wheels, as both sizes are 29inch wheels it would make sense, although rims for 29er are typically wider. Has anyone used 700C conversion kit on 29er bike with success, or are there any issues with tyres slipping out of the rim etc.? Any reasons not to do so? Thanks K
August 4, 20187 yr the problem is the tyres. Some don't fit or don't fit properly, some do. If in doubt, choose American tyre size 28". If you have V-brakes, you may have to adjust your brake blocks because 29er rims tend to be wider than 700C rims. If you have disc brakes, then you only have to pay for a new 28" tyre if the old one does not fit. For information, my 700C kit comes with ISO 622 rim, internal width 19mm, external width 23mm. It will take MTB tyres but it is really by trial and error.
