It's Saturday night - why aren't we all out clubbing!?

Yes, I really should get out more, instead of sitting and browsing through ebike pages. But I rather fancy a Woosh Gale, with its Bafang motor, for my next bike. I've had my little similar-shaped Chinese folder for nigh on four years now, but my pal reckons it's time I invested in a new model. Trouble is I can't wear it out! It still gives excellent service, is used most days and is still on the original battery. It got me wondering, do these bikes, their brushless motors and batteries just go on and on, if looked after? I just keep it well oiled, battery topped up, and no 'jolting' the battery by always starting up on pedal-sensing. Maybe it would be just as well to simply go for a new battery when the time eventually comes!

JOKETIME! When I were a lad there were so many boarded-up houses,
the window cleaner used to go round with a sander.

The motors and controllers will last forever. The battery will wear down eventually, but should be cheap enough to replace. Some of the latest bikes are a bit lighter, mainly because batteries have become lighter, and the pedal assist systems have become more sophisticated (more levels). The amount of satisfaction you get from riding an ebike has little to do with how much it cost or how much technology it has. If it does what you want it to do, you'll be happy. It would only be logical reason to replace your existing bike if it didn't do what you wanted or if it were uncomfortable doing it.

Same message from me, same e-bike in use for exactly 9 years this month.

It does what I want, no reason to change.

Roger, Flash, D8v and Flecc! It's a keeper, then. I just get longings for a Big Bear or similar, but this little folder packs in the back of zee car and goes anywhere and everywhere with me. My pal's got one too, and a sine wave generator, so we can even charge up when camping in the wilderness. D8v, you may remember heavy rain kebabbed my handlebar electronics. I opened it up, as you suggested, and it's dried out fine now. I discovered a little crack, through wear and tear, in the plastic covering the on-off switch, which s where zee rain must have got in. keep kool, dudes!
