After being a relative "lurker" on these forums for a long time now, I thought it was time to make a post!

After reading the amazing amount of knowledge that is shared here, I've finally decided to buy an electric bicycle.

I used to cycle a lot, but having had a lot of sedentary jobs, and enjoying too many pies and pints over the past twenty years, I found that I need a bit of help climbing the hills that surround my neighbourhood.

I took a ride from Birmingham to Bromsgrove (a distance of about 12 miles) last month and the route includes a 3 mile long hill from Halesowen to the top of Romsley. Its one of those nasty hills that gets steeper as you climb higher!

I was disappointed that I had to get off and push towards the top, and I realised that although I enjoyed the ride, I require a bit of assistance.

I was at Presteigne at the weekend and rode a Wisper 905. It was very comfortable, very well made, but unfortunately I can't afford an outlay of over £1000 for a bike :( So, based on favourable reviews I've ordered a Synergie Mistral this afternoon.

I'm looking forward to giving it a thorough test and review over the next few days. Here's looking forward to a long dry summer!

Good to hear roguesolo. I'm sure you'll have seen we have a number of contented Mistral users, so you'll be in good company.

All the best for many years of happy e-biking. :)

Hello Flecc! Thank you for the welcome. I read with interest the modifications to your own bikes, after following a link to your testing and review of the Agattu, I think from a page at 50cycles. The detail provided very much reminded me of the American cycle mechanic Sheldon Brown.

Thanks roguesolo, high praise indeed, but I would never place myself alongside the incomparable Sheldon. He really was a unique one of a kind and will be sadly missed following his recent passing away.
