Hi

I have just bought this bike from ebay, or one that looks very much like it.

IZIP Mountain Trailz A.L. Gents 2009 :: £449.00 :: ELECTRIC BIKES :: ELECTRIC BIKES :: Bike Shed UK/bikeshed/bicycle shed/bicycleshed/schwinn/giant/kona/saracen/base/mission/da bomb/dabomb/trials bikes

It was sold as an ex-Tesco bike with a Tesco label attached, altho the Tesco web site displays the same bike but it is called a "Meercat". I have sent Tesco an email asking if their bike is a UK legal cycle, but after a few days no response.
The only site that I have found lists my 'mountain trailz' as a 450w motor. I would like my bike to be a legal cycle, I have looked at UK rules but unsure as to my next step.
I would also be interested to know what trailers and extra passengers are legal. Bikes do have child seats, but are these legal? Trailers?
I am in the UK, but it might be interesting to know the laws in your country.

I suspect thats a 450w peak output but a legal 200w continuous...

Hi

Well thats great, I thought that might only be posible with 250w. I thought it might be too heavy for UK law too, but havnt weighed it yet.

Hi

Thanks, its looking better, I just need to get a rear light from the bikes electricity pack in the bike rack and fix a broken spoke.
Is a 24 volt LED rear lorry light a good option or do Izip offer good cheap rear lights, I might be ok with a good battery light for the front. Or maybe it might be worth getting wires going to the front.

I'm thinking other way; don't care much for the law, but now find mine Izip I bought on Ebay = not good for going up hills, even tho' I read it has 450w motor. = it no more powerful than my Zipper Z3 @ 200w?
Thinking of fitting rear light I've from 70s to + to car, just change bulb for 24v lorry 1. 1 LED uses ~2volt, so unless 1 uses few in series, won't be saving power over normal bulb.
