We all have sympathy concerning this immense disaster, but what the Japanese really need now is a quick national return to as much normality as possible financed by economic recovery. The best way we is the West can help is to get production running full tilt asap by buying their products wherever possible.

With their usual stoicism and resourcefulness they've said as much themselves already.
