hello all, I came across this lovely looking shaft driven bike (about £450 delivered) http://www.beixo.com/eng/slim-specifications.html
It seems to remind me of a certain danish bicycle that we were all interested in. I was wondering how much it would cost to add a modern hub motor and battery to this bike and if we could improve on the schwinn specs ! pimp my pedelec ! Maybe we could get someone to add the "off road" switch while we at it !

sweeet dreams M:)

There's similar here in Britain from Zero Cycles Mitty, the same shaft drive. On this link click the Bikes tab to see them.

You could use one of the Crystalite motors from Team Hybrid or a similar one to create a fast bike, but these do have the penalty of a short range with normal size batteries, around ten miles at best if heavy handed on the throttle.

Unlike the Diavelo, it wouldn't merely be a mythical beast, or lurking just beyond reach like the Schwinn. I doubt it would take much to at least equal those bikes, though you might have a job equalling their hype!
