Hey everyone,

I am not completely new here - I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for advice and recommendations.

Today I have just paid for my new bike (to be delivered in just over a week as it's being ordered for me), after trying out a few different bikes I have decided to go for an orange, upgraded 48v battery Pedego Step Through Cruiser.

The dealer was shocked when I choose this colour - stating that "Conservative Britain don't choose orange very often" but I'm not a conservative person. :)

I choose this bike as it was SO comfortable to ride and I felt it had the power I needed, it can be easily de-restricted if I choose and the brakes felt great. I am having to wait a week as I need a special controller with having the upgraded battery.

I was offered an extra battery charger and I was even cheeky enough to ask for a discount, which was offered so I think I got a pretty good deal.

I want to say thank you to all those suppliers and companies who have helped me in my search aswell as regular forum members.

I already have a new helmet and Kryptonite locks and I am looking at panniers too. I wondered what other 'practical' suggestions you guys had - such as good puncture repair kits, pumps etc?

I've noticed Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op have a 15% off sale on pretty much everything this weekend so I am going to try stock up on some bits and take advantage of the sale. :)

I will do, I will make sure I write a review too!

Any advice on practical accessories? I want to get a puncture repair kit and pump but have no idea what to look for as there's so many.
Any other necessities?

Hello KellyBear , can I please ask you, why the need for two chargers at this time? I know that it wouldn't harm in having two. The bike does look like it is ready to take off for a relaxing cruise. Well done aren't you excited ?

Because I would like one charger for home and one to keep at work, saves me keep carrying it with me and leaving it by mistake at one end.

Thanks for the advice on practical equipment! :)

Fair enough, when you start to become a seasoned ebiker you'll soon be carrying around a spare BMS and that is the time when the obsession begins.;)

Self-adhesive puncture patches work well.

My mate is a trained bike mechanic and ride leader.

He has tried loads over the years and recommends Leeches, which you can get from Halfords.

They are a bit sturdier than Park Patches, which are also good but perhaps more suited to roadie bikes.

As always, preparation is key, the tube needs to be roughed up a little, clean, and above all dry, before you apply any patch.

The bike has wide tyres, which if they are reasonable quality, shouldn't puncture very often if they are kept well-inflated.

The correct pressure is important, so you will need a track pump with a gauge to use at home.

Your dealer will have plenty to choose from.

As a start, run at the higher end of the pressure range, which should be marked on the tyre.

Don't buy too much other stuff until you get the bike, some things fit better on some bikes than others.
