Hi all, hoping someone might be able to help with this...

I have two Agattu bikes which are same year model, 2007 I think. These have the panasonic drive. One of them has a distinct increase in power between the three modes and when on the highest setting is effortless, I can really feel the assistance. The other, is noticeably less powerful, I can barely feel any difference between medium and high power settings. It's not a huge problem but just frustrating, I have asked the people at 50 cycles and they don't seem to have an idea except that maybe the motor is on its way out.

Any ideas please?

The earlier Panasonic unit of 2006 and before which just had Eco and Standard power settings had an occasional fault which lost the standard mode, leaving it on the low Eco setting. There was no cure since it was a fault in the encapsulated and sealed in circuit board and Panasonic supplied no spares anyway, repair only being by unit replacement. The fault seemed to have an inherent characteristic in that Panasonic actually produced a large batch which were very prone to this and they sent out replacement units to dealers for them to be swapped over.

I've never heard of this happening on the redesigned and quite different later unit, but the fault on your bike sounds suspiciously the same. However, it's also possible the the handlebar unit is faulty. That could be determined by either you trying the cable unit and it's harness from the other bike or 50cycles doing the same with a spare handlebar unit. The cables have simple plug-on connectors adjacent to the unit, hidden under the cowling.

Great, thanks very much, I will try and disconnect the other handlebar controller and plug into the slower bike.
Many thanks Flecc
