Thanks for that dave, I have a set of allen keys, and various bike tools, with spoke spanners on the ends....wondered why none of them would fit........Del.

In the absence of a spoke spanner, I managed to use a small adjustable.....not ideal, but it worked fine, anyway, did a quarter turn on each spoke, as advised.....went out on test.....no more clicking, it seems to have done the trick......thanks for advice.......Del.

Great news, glad it worked for you.

The thing is falling apart!

On the commute home one of the pedal cranks came loose. I was near the Halfords so I dropped it off.

The bike chap said there was no thread damage but diagnosed a loose bottom bracket and headset so I left it with them.

They have said they will get a replacement wheel if they can't solve the loose spoke issue as I told them I don't want to be without the bike for weeks if they send it away to the supplier.

It's annoying but at least they are dealing with the issues.

Fuss and bother!

I got the bike back on Saturday, used it for a quick trip to the local shop and then today for work.
On the way home the bottom bracket was making a shocking noise.

I dumped it back at the Halfords and told them that I don't expect a £1000 bike to sound like a £70 Tesco bike shaped object after a month.

Tomorrow I will call the C2W helpline to tell them I want to reject the bike as unfit for purpose and I will see what they have to say... The shop was not in disagreement with me though.

It's going to be a pickle, do I fight for a different bike or let them send it away for repair and if I get a different bike do I go for the Ebco, that seems to be defunct judging by the recent thread on sale prices, or do I get a normal bike and get it converted at a later date? I will miss the motor assist big time if I do that.

Halfords should easily be able to sort out these problems. The bottom bracket and cranks are no different to any other bike. Any self-respecting bike mechanic should be able to sort it in 5 minutes. I don't know whether you have a cartridge type BB. The other type are very prone to failure in cheap Chinese bikes. If that's what you have, don't mess about getting it repaired. Instead, ask them to fit a cartridge one. They sell them for only £10. maybe they have totally incompetent people there, in which case you've got a problem.
