Hi

how should I store my Lifepo4 battery when it not getting much use during the winter months, fully charged or part charged, also should I just leave it in the garage or bring it into the house.

Thanks for the help.

Ideally store at around 30 to 40% of charge (but see later), half charge is near enough, and in the coolest place available. Do not allow the battery to freeze in mid winter though.

Its important that you recharge at least once every three months, preferably every one or two months to avoid cell death, and that's makes part charge storage difficult. If the batery has a multi level LED meter, just charge to get it half full every one to two months.

Nigel,I prefer to keep the battery about 60-80 per cent charge, the lifepo4 has a very low self discharge rate of 2-3 per cent per month but it does ensure that there is little possibility of complete drain, which must be avoided. As fleck says it would be sensible to check the display lights after 3 months.

Okay thanks, I get the idea.I will hopefully be using the bike still as much as I can, but if not I will ensure the battery doesn't get below the recommended capacity.
