So I went to Bristol, marvelled at the 2000W unrestricted bikes getting some serious speed up the hill, tried a few road legal bikes, got home, bought a Kudos Tornado :D

I played with the king-meter settings :) Had a good ride around my local streets and I just have one thing that I want to change.

Without peddling, the throttle goes at walking speed, but I know it can be set to go faster as the one at Bristol could get up to the max set for the pedal assist cut out speed.

Can anyone let me know how to change this setting?

Ta, Steve

P.S. Just cycled up a hill with a rider on a drop handle bar road bike who commented that I was making it look easy

Thank Frank. Unfortunately I still can't see how to adjust the throttle pace. I'm stuck at walking pace.

The pedal assist pace is fine.

I don't recall seeing this mentioned before - Is it, maybe, something that has been implemented on the production model, that wasn't on the original demo bike? Or did I miss it?... More than likely

I haven't seen a Kudos in person, but don't you just select level 6, then turn the throttle? It sounds like you're implementing the 'push' mode mentioned in those instructions that Frank has linked to - that just helps you to push the bike up a hill.

It's possible that I may have been mistaken about my experience in Bristol. When commuting home today I found that irrespective of whether I was in assist mode 1 to 5, if I also pressed the throttle switch ( whilst pedaling) it instantly worked as if I was in assist level 5. Very helpful for getting away at the lights.

Kitbag....I didn't want to respond until I had a chance to test ride a production bike. You are correct that the throttle, without pedaling, gives up to 6 kmh speed. With pedaling the throttle defaults to assist level 5. This is in line with our interpretation of the EN15194 rules that specify power up to 25kmh provided that the pedals are rotating-note it is not necessary to pressure the pedals only to rotate.
I would be interested in your comments regarding the bike's performance....for me these BPM motor bikes are powerfully fast and really don't any longer justify the necessity to consider illegal bikes even on the steepest climbs. I think the technology of hub drive is improving to the extent that the usage of hub v crank is becoming more closely defined. If you can manage 6kmh uphill then the BPM or latest Panasonic hub (KTM Race 650P)motored bikes are excellent-if you are struggling to maintain 6kmh then crank drive with low speed-high cadence is probably better. The Kudos Ibex,TCM crank drive bikes will arrive soon and we can conduct proper back to back testing between the Arriba and Ibex bikes but I am now sure that the usage of crank v hub is now much better understood-there is a place for both systems dependent upon the leg power and fitness of the rider.
