After a stepthrough E bike for my wife. Have ordered the new 14 amp wisper 705SE but delivery is delayed, so looking around (just in case) as we have a weeks cycling holiday booked for Whitsun in France so will def need new bike by then......

prefer throttle style bikes with decent sized batteries, at least approching the range of my wisper 905SE. my wife is normal weight so does not need as powerful a battery I supose.........

I'd see if you can hire or borrow one for a week Eddie, and stick with your Wisper order, that way the batteries and chargers will be swappable - a major bonus!

Correct Rog mine is a 2008 model so not swappable unfortunately.

But I was thinking of getting the new 905SE as well then I would be able to do this. the only thing that is stopping me apart from the outlay:rolleyes: is my rear wheel has been rebuilt and it is strong enough to take my 17 stone without protest. This was hand built by SJS, not sure if the new bike would be as reliable in this regard.

not very technically minded so like having a warranty. also it looks like throttle bikes will be a thing of the past soon so I want to grab a new one before they disappear!

wife does not mind at all, and has taken some convincing regards E bikes. Away this weekend and taking wifes non electric, but for a week it would be nice to have a pair of them as Im fed up of hanging around waiting for her...... particularly on hills lol

There's not much choice of hub motored stepthroughs and the new 14Ah 705se seems to be the only long range option around.

The Panasonic powered bikes can achieve very good ranges with moderate weight riders like your wife, but the performance characteristics are very different so not matching the way the 905se acts on the road. Steep hill climbing is easier but slower, while on the flat the rider still has to put in half of the effort all the time for good range with standard power mode.

I don't think the throttle on the Wisper range is likely to disappear - it's just that if/when the EU regulations come into full force the throttle can only work if the pedals are turning. However, it has been intimated by Wisper that it will still be a 30 second mod to restore full independent throttle operation 'at the owner's risk' from a legal standpoint.

Same applies to the 'off road' button, which will probably shortly disappear on standard bikes, but the facility and wiring will still be there and can be easily reinstated.

No comment, other than to say that SOME of us would keep a safe distance from any camera....

Hi Eddieo

Sorry yes there is a delay, although we will probably have one on the container arriving on 5th May and if not the 27th May container will certainly have some.

However if your new 2009 705se is not here on time, you would be more than welcome to borrow a 705eco with a second battery with our complements.

Best regards David

HI Eddieo

When do you go to France and where? I may be able to make the new one available in Lille (if the worst comes to the worst) you will keep that one and we will send one to France on behalf of your retailer.

All the best David

Whitsun week, leaving the friday evening on the 22nd May.driving down overnight to the Loire and touring along it to the coast.........

Wife is more then happy to use normal bike as she has been for years, so no panic really. The point of this thread was really to see if there were any other bikes out there I should consider..... Other then some cheaper chinese bikes on E*ay not much else around to compete with your models. So you must be doing something right! along with the new folder and your excellent support you seem to be right on top of things.

I am happy to wait, and worse case scenario is I might take you up on the offer off the ECO for the week.......
