Wrong again Frank that's a boat anchor not a battery. :D

At £2750 the Bosch FS compares favourably with it's nearest Panasonic FS rival the Biketec Flyer X Series which start at around £3500. However the components are probably where the cost saving has been made.

If this bike is used as intended (offroad), then 15mph would be plenty.
HI eTim, we used to sell flyers (and still have some X-Series models at our Jersey business, LEV Jersey), but stopped late last year because I thought them to be over-priced and found the eu distributors to be unreliable. The MTB version of the Flyer X Series retails at €4'999!

Feedback from 4 separate groups of active MTB'ers that have made the journey to Suffolk to try the Haibike say the component specs are "high-end" and that if it wasn't electric it would cost around £2'200. I'm not an MTB'er so don't know if their views are accurate.

Rgds,

J

All reports say the Bosch assistance tops out at 15 mph, on a moderate up-slope the latest Panasonics will assist to 17.5 mph on standard sprockets. This is acceptable within the EU specification. Whether on an incline or on the flat, the Pansonic will be 2.5 mph faster with assistance than the Bosch.
I don't think it'll be long before everybody will be fitting aftermarket sprockets so that they'll all be riding round on their Haibikes at 20 mph, Sould be a very easy modification.

Did anybody ride the Storck Radar?

Yes, I did. Power characteristics about the same as the Ezee Torq, You'd need a longer test ride to see if it has the efficiency benefits previously discussed. It felt like a well put together bike, but no front suspension spoilt it for me. That Haibike had air forks, which you can buy for about £260 - and they're worth every penny!

Naturally, I've had a few thoughts about tweaking the Bosch in the same way as many of us have with the Panasonic system. The easy way to do this would be on one of the Bosch powered machines fitted with the Alfine 11 speed geared hub, but I think there is problem with doing this.

The Panasonic system does not sample the road speed when determining assistance ramp-down, but I think the Bosch system does, did you enquire as to the reason for the speed sensor on the rear wheel of the Haibike?.

I seem to recall the reason for the road-speed sampling on the Bosch is to stop people frigging the system.

Interesting, I was wondering about the 'power control' previously discussed or if it was still a throttle like all other bikes.

Going even further off topic, I saw you comments about the Rock Shox Dart 4....I can't seem to find these anywhere and the Rock Shox web site only lists the 1, 2 and 3...and was interested in where you got them from...

Hi d8veh, I have started a new thread under heading "Haibike" (http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/8514-haibike.html#post105355) 'cos I sense something disingenuous about the title of this thread containing the name of an e-bike supplier.

Regards,

James
whats disingenuous about alerting members that there is now more then one dealer of the Haibikes ? and a bit disingenuous yourself considering it was after my complaints regards your non attendance at Prestigne that probably contributed to you suddenly being invited...Get over yourself?

The power control was like a throttle for the pedal sensor, so that power only came with pedalling but you could adjust how much you got.

Here's the link to the forks. I just ordered another pair, so I hope I didn't get the last ones!
RockShox Dart 3 Suspension Forks
Sorry, Dart 3s not 4s

Get a disk and calliper of Ebay - won't cost much compared with the forks - or do you prefer rim brakes?

They where for my Alien to replace the poor zoom forks currently fitted but my motor does not have the disk mount so I've bought some Suntour XCM forks off Ebay instead...
