No, don't tell them, let them work out why there's no control and electrical cables.

The concept does work though, there's a Dutch trailer power unit that can be added to bikes to turn them into electrics. Here it's behind a trike, but it's meant for bikes as well. Battery and motor in the base, load capacity above:
