On ebay today, there's a whole bunch of batteries for sale which may well be worthy of consideration given replacement costs of original equipment.

It might be worth checking the seller's online shop as there are various sizes and voltages available. Even if they're only good for 10 to 15 miles, if cheap enough why not?
